The Senior Technician conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. The position applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. The electronics technician provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of research and development at RMD.

 

Essential Functions:
1. Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment, including programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gauges, and test equipment.
2. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
3. Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
4. Advises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
5. Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
6. Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
7. Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.
8. Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting.
9. Assists and trains other maintenance and other technical-level employees.

 

Required Education/Experience
• Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a servicing Electro-Mechanical Vacuum equipment used in the Microelectronic/Semiconductor field.
1. Thermal, e-beam, sputtering evaporation equipment
2. Atomic Layer Deposition and Chemical Vapor Deposition (desired)

• Shall be proficient in the use of common hand tools and possess skills in electrical wiring, soldering, and use of electrical test instruments (multi-meter minimum req.) machine shop practices – drilling, cutting, grinding & shaping of sheet metal and thread tap & die.
• Trained and experienced in workshop safety and safety programs.
• Experienced in handling hazardous chemicals and knowledge of hazardous waste procedures.
• Experienced in corrective measures & procedures in maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical & electronic equipment and machines used for manufacturing and research operations.
• Create documentation logs to track and schedule preventive maintenance, record failure trends, and monitor equipment history to improve production and throughput efficiency.
• Upgrade and improve equipment systems to increase operating performance and product quality.
• Skilled in assembly of plumbing stainless steel hazardous gas lines & manifolds, pneumatic, hydraulic and e control systems.
• Conceptualize, design, and fabricate electromechanical systems to meet company demands for new technology and improvements in equipment operation.
• Design circuits for electrical operation of test stands and hazardous gas alarms – visual and audio annunciator systems for operator safety.
• Ensure equipment is operating safely and within its fullest capacity to deliver superior performance and product quality.
• Knowledge/experience in Atomic Layer Deposition and Chemical Vapor Deposition is highly desirable.
