RMD has developed 6LiI:Eu based scintillator films to target applications where high spatial neutron imaging resolution is required. The scintillator films fabricated in large area microcolumnar format have optimized Europium dopant concentration to maximize the neutron light yield, with a factor of 20 or more the measured brightness of conventional GS20.
This enables the high spatial resolution in neutron imaging and detection. These films are fabricated in a proprietary system and hermetically packaged to ensure the films are never exposed to ambient air and moisture, which provides the seamless protection against the hygroscopic LiI based materials.
- High light yield of up to 110,000 photons/neutron
- Columnar growth of scintillator films up to 6″x 6″ and up to 600 μm thick
- 300 μm or better spatial resolution
- Absorption efficiency >60% for thermal neutrons using 500 μm thick film
- Excellent neutron-gamma discrimination
