Biosensor Technology
The Biosensor Technology
team specializes in the detection and analyses of cells and biomolecules
in real time by a combination of microfluidics electronic and photonic
sensors.
Instrumentation
The Instrumentation group
is focused on the development of solid-state, magnetic field sensors
and sensor arrays, and applications for those sensors in nondestructive
testing, in-circuit testing, anti-tampering for integrated circuits,
and biomedical applications.
Instrument Research & Development
This group developed the world's first
"Geiger-mode" photodiode arrays which have single photon sensitivity
at room temperature and are the basis for solid state Photomultiplier
Detectors. This group also developed the world's first commercial
coded aperature radiation camera. The IRD group develops instruments
for optical and nuclear imaging and detector applications using
CMOS and other detector technologies.

Optics & Photonics
Using RMD's LA-APDs as a foundation,
RMD established a laser optics R&D and applications group to investigate
the optical applications of our large, fast and sensitive APDs.
Imaging Technology
This RMD core technology group is
at the forefront of advanced X-ray and radionuclide imaging technology,
developing large area thick scintillator film materials and photodetector
technology for advanced high resolution, high sensitivity and often
ultra-fast X-ray and radionuclide imaging in scores of application
areas.
Material Science
RMD's oldest and largest group specializes
in developing new radiation detector materials and sensor configurations.
Historically focused on room-temperature semiconductor materials
and devices, the activities of this group have expanded to include
Large Area Avalanche Photodiode (LA-APD) and high performance scintillation
materials.
